There will be three PTR-unique buffs active to help you on your journey: increased Legendary drop rate, increased experience gains, and double Blood Shard drops. During this time there may be periodic maintenances, outages, hotfixes, or minor patches. We’ll be conducting the Patch 2.7.2 PTR starting Thursday, November 4. Our two-week PTR testing period for the 2.7.2 update begins November 4 and we're asking for your help to quell the tides of surging demons. Soul Shards drop primarily from bosses, but they have a chance to drop anywhere in the world along with Hellforge Embers. Soul Shards can be upgraded 3 times using a new season-only consumable, the Hellforge Ember.
One of 3 Prime Evil Soul Shards can be equipped into Helms, and one of 4 Lesser Evil Soul Shards can be equipped into Weapons. Soul Shards provide you with new powers that you can bestow upon your enemies in the Sanctuary. Season 25 adds a new type of socketable item called Soul Shards. Players can obtain 7 unique Soul Shards, based on the Lord of Hell. The two-week testing period for Patch 2.7.2 begins November 4, and here are the PTR notes with more details about the new Season 25 theme, item changes, and more.
These will be dropping from all content in the game, with Soul Shards having a greater chance to drop off bosses specifically. The above are all rank 3, and the progression will go from the stats buffs alone on rank 1, then the unique ability at rank 2, and finally the second unique ability/buff to the first ability on rank 3, depending on shard (and since it's still the PTR the numbers might change as well). To remind ourselves: the first 3, the Prime Evil Shards, go into helmets while the other 4 go into weapons, as looking at them shows us some very Ethereal weapon-like stats, featuring big general buffs to pretty much any and everything, as well as a bigger focus on HP/defense for the Primes (emulating the gems that usually get put into helmets) and damage for the Lessers (same emulation for weapon gems), which each also having a unique and pretty powerful effect. Season 25 really came at the perfect time, as it celebrates Diablo's 25th anniversary, and so we're getting 7 Soul Shards based off the Prime and Lesser Evils as the main seasonal mechanic! We've seen them mentioned in the season preview, but now we can take a look at them from the PTR with their full stats as well!ĪRX7 gathered them all up, as well as the Hellforge Embers we'll be using to upgrade them up to level 3, so let's take a look!
